Montana's Golden Triangle - An Oasis for Wheat Growers

Montana's Golden Triangle is a sea of golden wheat fields

Marked by a seemingly endless sea of golden wheat fields, Montana’s Golden Triangle is a region that locals would describe as equivalent to what Napa Valley is to California. Located in North Central Montana, the Golden Triangle region annually seeds 2.2 million acres of wheat (Montana State University). Farmers produce high-quality, high-protein wheat that primarily goes to export markets.

The corners of the triangle are Conrad and Havre to the north and Great Falls to the south. Farmers in the region produce both winter and spring wheat, which makes the triangle unique as other parts of the state produce strictly winter wheat. The communities in the Golden Triangle largely depend on the economy driven primarily by wheat, barley, and pulse crop production.

The elevations across the Golden Triangle range from 2,500 feet along the Montana Hi-Line to 6,000+ feet above sea level in the mountainous regions. Montana is considered a ‘high mountain desert’ and its elevation, low humidity, and dry climate combine to decrease pest and disease pressure.

AgriBusiness Trading Group has multiple off-market, confidential opportunities currently available in the Golden Triangle region. We have available for acquisition an exclusive, sale-leaseback offering that is located along the Hi-Line. There are approximately 450 +/- cropland acres and typical crops for the area include wheat, barley, peas, lentils, and oilseeds. This area is well known for producing high-quality grain that primarily goes to export markets.

The current farming operation consists of a wheat-summer fallow rotation, meaning a crop is grown every other year on these acres. This is a dryland farm asset with no water rights on the farm or included in the sale of this asset.

Be on the lookout for upcoming opportunities as well, ranging from 500-3,000 +/- acres!
